How we saved over $10K last year...


  • I cut my husbands hair ($480 savings)
  • We use coupons for everything ($2500-$3200 savings)
  • We make our own Laundry Soap ($250 annual savings)
  • We make our own hand soap ($100 savings)
  • We line dry our clothing ($800-950 savings)
  • We use energy saving appliances (i.e. skillet $300 savings)
  • We triple search for the best deals on everything ($ unlimited)
  • We shop thrift stores on half price days
  • We barter our services with other mom & pop companies
  • We order Freebies online
  • We shop Dollar Tree for daily household cleaning supplies
  • We re-purpose many household items
  • We rent movies from the library (Free= $250 savings)
  • We use Rewards Cards for more savings
  • We use Swagbucks to score free gift cards
  • We Tithe & Trust God!
  • We haggle for the best prices anywhere we shop ($100-$700 savings)
  • We got to know our butcher! (Manager specials $250-$800 savings)


2011 was a great money saving year, and I'm excited to see what 2011 has in store for us. I found these to be the easiest and most effective ways to save money. We have reaped great benefits from these small changes. I hope you'll give them a try, there is nothing to lose!
