Homemade Powder Detergent

Months ago I found a really great recipe for homemade powdered laundry detergent. I decided to give it a try and was very pleased with the outcome. I found all 4 ingredients at my local Ace Hardware and used an old plastic canister to store it. For this recipe you will need the following;

Bucket
1 Bar of Zote
1 Bar of Fels Naptha
4 Cups of Borax
4 Cups of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda
Cheese grater or Food Processor
Container with lid

*Be very careful Not to use baking soda, ask specifically for A&H Washing Soda*

In a bucket, grate 1 Bar of Zote & 1 Bar of Fels Naptha (cutting soap bars into 3 or 4 chunks & running through food processor works very well). Add 4 Cups of Borax & Washing Soda to soap mixture and shake thoroughly. Makes enough for 80 loads, store in a container with a secure lid.

Use 2 table spoons of detergent for each load, take note that the solution will not create suds but is equally effective as normal detergents. You may elect to add an essential oil of your choice to enhance the scent.

Total cost of ingredients= $7.36
