Craft Corner

For months now I've been trying to breathe new life into some old brass fixtures. After a few failed cleaning tricks including using Ketchup (that failed miserably) and lots of elbow grease, I realized it just wasn't working for me. I stopped by Walmart to see if there was anything I could use to help my plight, lo & behold there was a product called "Brasso" sitting atop the shelf as if it were waiting for me to arrive. I read the label and hoped that when I got home that it would do the job and WOW did it ever! The tarnish was no match for Brasso, all I had to do was use a quarter sized drop on a cloth and wipe it down. I'm incredibly pleased with this product especially since it was so inexpensive at just $2.48 a bottle. It made this weeks Craft Corner all the more enjoyable!

Craft Corner

I've been busy crafting this week. I found this really cute mock bird feeder at Joann's for .25 cents and decided to paint it sky blue. I think it came out really well & I will use it as an accent piece in the living room. Not bad for a quarter!

Craft Corner

Here is the re-do of the gold breakfast tray I scored at the thrift store for $1 this week. I spray painted it with a shimmery silver paint and it turned out better than I expected. I decided to place it on my nightstand to hold my odds and ends. I love it!

From Trash to Treasure

Can you believe this ultra cute memory box was thrown away? Yes friends I picked it from the trash and made it into a treasure. The original color was an odd oak stain but with a little bit of elbow grease, creativity and paint, I was able to save it and re-purpose it in my living room.

Favorite makeover tool, for the love of Krylon

I took up crafting earlier this year as a means to start redecorating my home. While surfing the net I came across this awesome spray paint & it has changed my world.
It's Krylon Brushed Metallic Satin Oil Rubbed Bronze! Yes, it's a mouthful, but this paint goes a long way. In my previous post, you have seen the before and after of the mini decor shelf I scored at Salvation Army, and it came out great. You can find this spray paint at Kmart for just $2.99 or at your local craft store like Michaels (just make sure you use a 40% off coupon).
I've used it on a magazine basket, a/c vents and many other household items, it's a wonderful tool, give it a try, you'll love it too!

Decor Shelf Makeover Revealed!

Mini makeover is complete, it looks so much better! All it took was a bit of creativity and my favorite makeover tool.  Krylon Brushed Metallic "Satin Oil Rubbed Bronze". Doesn't it look great!?!

Thrift Store Score

I found 2 of these ultra cute decor shelves at Salvation Army on half price Wednesday. I scored them for just $2.50 total. Once I complete the mini makeover, they will look perfect in my living room.

Button Magnets

housetohome.co.uk

Ever wonder what to do with those buttons that come with a new piece of clothing?  Why not make them into a craft project?  It's so easy to turn them into a fridge accent.

Materials needed
Hot glue gun
Random buttons (any size or color)
1/2 inch magnet (found at local craft store)

Once your glue gun is hot, gently dab a bit of glue to the back of the button and press magnet into the glue.  Let dry for 15 minutes, then decorate your fridge. It's that simple and lots of fun!
