Hurricane Preparedness
Since we're only 17 days away from the start of Hurricane Season in Florida, it's time to come up with a plan of action in case one happens to head our way. Thanks to NOAA, they have provided a comprehensive list of items that belong in survival kit.
- Water (at least 1 gallon daily per person for 3 to 7 days)
- Food (at least enough for 3 to 7 days) non-perishables
- Keys
- Non-electric can opener
- Cooking tools/Fuel
- Paper plates/Plastic utensils
- Blankets/Pillows
- Clothing (seasonal/rain gear/sturdy shoes)
- First Aid Kit/Medicines/Prescription Drugs
- Toiletries/Hygiene items/Moisture wipes
- Flashlight & Batteries
- Battery operated radio
- Telephones (fully charged cell w/extra battery & a non cordless)
- Cash (small bills)
- Credit Card (Banks & ATMs may be down for extended periods)
- Waterproof container for important documents
- Tools (keep a set with you during the storm)
- Vehicle fuel tanks filled
- Pet care items (Proper ID/Shot records/Rx/Ample food & water, pet carrier/cage, muzzle & leash)
